Cardamom, Cinnamon and Nutmeg:
Add these three spices to a mosaic of fruits for some zest in your summer meals.
I have been making this fruit salad since medical school for many pot luck parties, and it is always a delicious desert option. Another plus, it is super easy to prepare!
Pick any mix of your favorite fruits. I usually pick one container of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Depending on the season, I will add peaches or apples. Hull and quart the strawberries. Chop the bigger fruits like peaches and apples. Place all in a bowl.
Add to taste ground cardamom, nutmeg and cinnamon. Start with 1/8 teaspoon or even less. You can always add more.
Chop some mint leaves and place in the bowl.
Add fresh squeezed lemon juice.
Mix all together and enjoy!
Not only do these spices add extra zing for the taste buds, they have amazing health benefits for our overall well-being:
Cardamom: Useful aid for anorexia, colic, dyspepsia, indigestion; alleviates
mental and nervous exhaustion.
Cinnamon: Useful as an antiseptic for colds and flu; aids in dyspepsia, intestinal infection, anorexia, colitis, and diarrhea; alleviates nervous exhaustion.
Nutmeg: Useful as an analgesic for arthritis, gout, muscular pain, rheumatism; aids in indigestion and alleviates nausea; antiseptic to treat bacterial infections; alleviates nervous fatigue.
